Today's Document from the National Archives is General George Washington's General Order declaring Saint Patrick's Day of 1780 as a holiday for the troops. Just thought you might like to know that.
THAT is awesome. Also very interesting. I would have thought that in 1780, St. Patrick's Day would be a strictly Catholic observance. Nice guy, Washington.
