Two Weeks Ago

I have kind of forgotten to post any more info about our fantastic stay-go-cation.

It all started with a visit to my parents in Springfield two weeks ago. On Friday night, we went downtown Springfield. It's an area that has really grown up and become a pleasant way to spend an evening.

There are some very interesting architectural areas in downtown Springfield

And Sophia gave me one good smile.

And walks are great with daddies

At mom & dad's house, we played in the hose a while since it was starting to get hot out.

It was a really great way to start our vacation. Relaxing and hanging out. Exactly as we'd do the rest of the week!

Craft Time

I didn't really have a favorite day on vacation. Every day was different because of our schedule and location, but every day was great in a different way.

However, if I did have a favorite day, it would probably be the day closest to my normal life. One day, we were home waiting for a UPS package that never came. So we were confined to our quarters, and that was fantastic. With Erick was home, he and Sophia would play for a while as I cleaned. Or she and I would sit down and read a few books while he caught up on the scores and such. It was possibly the most relaxing of all the relaxing days we had.

The craziest we got was during impromptu craft time.

Sophia and Erick made necklaces and bracelets for each of us - including Lulu, of course. Here they are modeling their work.

A day like this just proves what I've always believed. My life really is my favorite thing.

Worth It

It's always hard to begin normal activity and responsibility after a week of pretending responsibility doesn't exist. So I am not surprised that I'm a bit melancholy today.

The week was full and busy. It didn't go by so quickly that I didn't get to soak it in, so that's definitely a blessing. I'm looking forward to sharing a picture or story with you here and there. Even though we didn't go anywhere exotic, I took lots of pictures. Pointlessly, perhaps, but that never stops me.

Sophia and I miss Erick quite a bit today. Apparently, he's the life of our party. This afternoon, we're picking up our exercising routine again. That isn't pleasant, but I do look forward to feeling in control of my habits again. We'll see how that goes.

Hope everyone had a good week! Here's to another!

Vacation so far

This is our week of va- and stay- cation. So far, it's a blast! Starting in Springfield with my parents, second stop Kansas City, currently hanging at our homestead doing some very serious nothing. Tomorrow we head out for St. Louis to do some nothing there as well. Ahhh. It's fantastic.

This is Sophia's costume for the week. Since the dress was acquired in Springfield...thanks, Mom...I think...she hasn't worn anything else.

Gracing us with the occasional grin.

When she's swimming, which is frequently, she does at least wear a swim suit.

More to come.

Luckily there were three days to this weekend

Saturday was such fun I didn't bring my camera. Sunday, the actual fourth, was just one of those days. There was nothing actually wrong with any of us, but the combination of our beings was enough to make us all just a bit grumpy. Edgy even. So, what a relief that the weekend didn't end there.

The worry after a day like that is that its negative mojo is going to flow into the following days. Next week is our vacation week, so heaven forbid the mojo take out something that precious!!

In order to avoid that disaster, we decided to be very proactive. Instead of sitting around waiting for something to come to us, we got out.

Shelter Gardens is always a good place to shake off the weepies. Well, it is for me anyway. I have a shot of Sophia riding this lion a long time ago. Maybe I'll dig it up some time and compare.

What could add to our unexpected fun like an unexpected family photo! There I was snapping shots when Erick took the camera to get a shot of the ladies. A passerby asked if he could oblige by taking a family shot. I love when that happens (and Sophia doesn't close her eyes).

I got some lovely photos. Maybe that's why I like Shelter Gardens so much. It's just appealing.

Once we got home, we were hot. So.... playing in the hose seemed to be the answer.

In the interest of "real-life" blogging, here's what happens when one gets distracted by trying to photograph a special moment. When one turns one's back, one can never be sure that one will not get sprayed with ice cold water.

Just FYI
