God Bless the Irish


The Irish bring us lots of good things: Bono, Gabriel Byrne, Guiness, leprechauns, red hair, and the list goes on.

I just hope you're wearing green and dancing like heck.

    Today's Document from the National Archives is General George Washington's General Order declaring Saint Patrick's Day of 1780 as a holiday for the troops. Just thought you might like to know that.

    THAT is awesome. Also very interesting. I would have thought that in 1780, St. Patrick's Day would be a strictly Catholic observance. Nice guy, Washington.
