Best Oscar Moment

One of our favorite movies of the year was "Once." An independent musical about a struggling Irish street musician and the unexpected friend who encourages him to pursue his dreams. It's a beautiful movie, made in two weeks on the streets of Dublin for $100,000 or thereabouts. One of the songs from the film was nominated for an Oscar. We were so pleased when they won! They were shocked and so sweet. Anyway, just thought I'd share with you their performance. It's especially meaningful if you have seen the film. I would definitely recommend it.

  1. "Once" was my favorite movie of 2007, and makes my Top Ten list of all time. It combines a couple of my favorite things: good music and authentic relationships (no fairy tale here). I saw the movie and then got the soundtrack, and I think if someone hears the soundtrack first they will not be all that impressed. Witnessing the music being made brings a level of resonance that cannot be conveyed by the music track itself.

My favorite line from the movie may be Girl's in Czech, or it may be from Guy's Dad: "Play it again."
